Mark Spencer is Director of the Northeast Region with First Advantage Litigation Consulting, specialists in litigation support services, including computer forensics, electronic data discovery, data recovery services, expert consulting, and fact-finding for litigants. Mark came to First Advantage through its acquisition of EvidentData in 2006. In addition to his case related responsibilities, Mark remains active in beta testing of computer forensics software and assists with client development and marketing. He also trains and supervises First Advantage computer-forensics examiners and analysts to properly handle and analyze evidence. His professional engagements have included cases involving evidence elimination, computer intrusion, intellectual-property theft, online undercover operations, employment disputes, and large-scale electronic discovery projects.
A faculty member of the Computer Security Institute, Mark has taught numerous courses for corporate and government clients which have included Lockheed Martin, NASA, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Mark is a regular presenter on computer forensics related topics and has been a guest speaker at industry events and on television.
From 2000 to 2001, Mark served as Information Security Analyst with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in Boston, Massachusetts. His review of the office's information security policies and procedures helped safeguard the District Attorney's information assets. Mark was instrumental in establishing Suffolk County’s first computer forensics lab. His expertise in computer forensics proved vital to successful prosecutions in areas such as white collar crime, child pornography, and extortion.
Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. He successfully completed the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council's Basic Course of Training for Reserve Police Officers. His certifications include Advanced Certified Computer Forensic Technician, EnCase Certified Examiner, Certified ProDiscover Examiner, and Certified SonicWALL Security Administrator. He is a member of the Information Systems Security Association, Computer Security Institute, High Technology Crime Investigation Association, and High Tech Crime Network.
