Problem: A software publisher received a tip that its software, not yet released to the public, was being distributed illicitly on the Internet.

Solution: EvidentData identified a posting on an Internet message board offering the software, which was authorized for distribution only to the publisher’s development team, for download.  EvidentData formulated a profile of the individual responsible for the posting, made undercover contact via the Internet, and downloaded the pirated software from the suspect’s computer system.  Once the authenticity of the software was verified, a private investigator was dispatched to the individual’s home and the leak was addressed.
