Problem: A Department of Defense agency notified an international law firm that one of its servers had been probing military networks.

Solution: EvidentData identified a compromise to the law firm’s server by “console pirates” allowing distribution of video games to Internet users from the firm’s server.  The extent of the compromise was documented and the likely perpetrators were identified by reviewing server logs and remnants of pirate activity.  EvidentData shared its findings with the DOD, avoiding a costly governmental seizure of the law firm’s computer systems.
